Camp - Mama Style
/NOTE: Pirate Camp lesson plans have now been added! see below.
So here we are 12+ weeks into this “new normal.” Whatever that means.
For us here that means a lot of Teddy-Mama time. It also means I have pretty much used up all of my summer activities and depleted their fun-ness if you will. We have hit up the rock beaches and nature trails and all the random spots outside that we normally would in the summer. Nothing inside is open right now to cool off. Oh and camps are a non-starter.
So that leaves me to add another awesome thing to my resume Camp Director and Counselor.
***
Welcome to Camp Mama. We opened this week. It’s a free camp. Electronic devices are allowed. The goal is to make the day go by as quickly as possible for all participants. Counselor might drink. Campers will take quiet time from 1-230 (at least here). And damn it campers will enjoy themselves (ha!).
I needed something to keep T occupied and enjoying himself and learning(!) and frankly I needed something fun to do, too! Crazy, maybe but if you know me, it makes sense.
TEddy and I started Camp Mama this week with “Around the World” camp. We picked 5 countries and are doing 2-3 hours of country related actives a day. We chose Mexico, Japan, England, Italy, and Australia.
Each day we check into his Passport so he can enter the country - he draws the flag and writes the country name. From there we have something we can READ, something we can VISIT/WATCH (think Wild Kratts or Super Wings) and something to DO. Interspersed with that is Atlas reading, simple foreign language words, and some fun activities for later on in the day. So far it’s been a hit.
Next week we will be attending Mad Scientist camp and will be making potions, melting and freezing things, making observations, using the 5 senses, and cooking!!
I also have Pirate Camp, Travel Through the Human Body Camp, and Around the US Camp planned out so I think we can make it through the next 5 weeks.
That is if the counselor make it - I know the camper will survive but I’m concerned for the counselor. It’s been a long haul and there is no end in sight.
So if you are interested in any of the week long camps I have listed above email me or click the links next to the camp pictures (NOTE: Only Mad Scientist Camp and Around the World Camp are ready for download at this time. The rest will be ready by 7/5)
